The stores in the nearby area like the “neighbourhood grocery store” and the area where the residences are located is known as the “local neighbourhood”.
Services and shops that are important to you should be within your reach as they are just near. Convenience shops, grocery stores, the dry cleaners and gas station are examples of these services. Mass transit, major traffic routes and local highways should easily be accessible enough for you.
A word of caution. One way to tell if the local neighbourhood is in a bad shape is to look at the shopping centre if it is in the same unfortunate state. Too many vacant shops and spaces waiting to be leased in the front side of many stores should be taken into consideration. Buying a house a few more blocks just might be the best idea.
